Shri Luthfulla Khan Atheeq (L K Atheeq) is an IAS officer of the 1991 batch from the Karnataka cadre. All along with his career as an IAS officer, he has served various departments in Karnataka and has rich and varied experience and knowledge in the fields of education, rural water supply, and sanitation, administration, policy formation, etc. He had served Govt. of Karnataka in various capacities, to name a few: Dy. Secretary (Services), Dept. of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Chief Executive Officer of Karwar and Dy. Commissioner of Mandya and Hassan districts. He played an active role in the implementation of the World Bank assisted Rural Water Supply and Sanitation project. He also had served as State Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan aimed at the universalization of elementary education. He served Govt. of India on deputation from the state as Director and Joint Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office and was involved in the process of conceptualization and formulation of policies and their approval for implementation. Shri Atheeq had an opportunity to work as senior advisor to the Executive Director, World Bank, Washington DC on a foreign assignment basis from Govt. of India. On return from Govt. of India’s deputation, he worked as Principal Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), and subsequently, he worked as Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Karnataka from May 2016 to May 2018.
