Dr. Diwakar Hegde
Managing Director
Dr. Diwakar Hegde has taken over the charge as Managing Director of NABFINS with effect from June 01, 2022. He was Officer-in-Charge of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Sikkim Regional Office, Gangtok, before joining NABFINS. Previously, he was a faculty member and in-charge of Centre for Climate Change at Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Lucknow, responsible for designing and conducting training programmes on climate finance, micro finance and financing of FPOs. He has developed e-learning modules on financial literacy, horticulture financing and designed a certification course on appraisal of agriculture financing.
Dr. Hegde has obtained M.Sc. and Ph.D from the prestigious Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance. He obtained Certificate (2003) in Land Use Planning from InWent, Germany, Certificate (2017) in Sustainable Rural Development, MASHAV, Tel Aviv, Israel and Certificate (2018) in Building Capacities in Sustainable Climate Financing from GIZ, Germany.
He has joined NABARD as an officer and worked in various capacities at the Head Office, Mumbai and Regional Offices across the country. He has also worked as District Development Manager at Chikmagalur, Karnataka for 05 years, responsible for implementation of NABARD programmes in the district. He was a Nominee Director in the Board of Directors of Chikmagalur Kodagu Gramin Bank for 5 years representing NABARD. He was also in the Board of Sikkim State Cooperative Bank for 2 years.
